Through the ISTD assignment, I explored the spiderweb, nature’s fragile and temporary line-work. The patterns and geometric lines that spiders create are a testament to the arachnid’s skill and patience and effectively answers the ‘line’ brief. The design targets those who experience arachnophobia. Through typography, lines, and storytelling, I aimed to turn their fear into fascination, enabling the audience to feel a sense of appreciation and wonder for the linear creations. The modern approach to a stereotypically historic and ominous subject, along with the warm and comforting colour palette also achieves the goal of turning fear into fascination, particularly through the peachy tones.
